MRS. LOU LATTA IS BURIED HERE THIS AFTERNOON

Was Resident Of This Community Nearly Entire Lifetime

Mrs. Lou Latta, 78 years of age and well known to many in the Blair vicinity, passed away at Blair late last Monday, June 10th. She had been a resident of Blair most of her life and is the third of a family of five sisters to pass away.

Ella C. Gochenouer was born at Annaman, Illinois October 20, 1868, the third daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Adam Gochenouer. The family came to Blair when Mrs. Latta was but a small child.

She was married to L. W. Latta December 25th, 1911, and for many years she and her husband have lived at 503 South Walker Avenue.

She was a long time member of the Congregational Church and the Ladies Social Union which is connected with that church. She has also been active in the affairs of the Rebekah lodge and the Past Noble Grands.

Mrs. Latta is survived by her husband, L. W. Latta, Mrs. O. M. Ireland of Plattsmouth, Nebraska and Mrs. G. G. Hines of Blair. A half sister, Mrs. Mary Knowington of Omaha also survives. The sisters preceding her in death were Mrs. J. M. Trimble, Mrs. J. L. Dixon and Mrs. Amy Garner, all well known to the older people of Blair.

Mr. and Mrs. Latta had no children.

Funeral services are being held this Thursday afternoon at the Congregational church with Rev. W. F. Lewis officiating. Campbell Mortuary in charge.

WIFE OF FORMER POLICE CHIEF SUCCUMBS TO LONG ILLNESS MONDAY

Long ill with heart trouble, Mrs. Ella C. Latta, 78, wife of former Police Chief Lou W. Latta, died Monday night at the Latta home, 503 South Walker Ave. She was a Blair resident more than 70 years. Funeral services, in charge of the Campbell Mortuary, are being held at 2pm today at the Congregational church, the Rev. Watson F. Lewis officiating. Interment will be in Blair cemetery.

Ella C. Gouchenouer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Adam Gouchenouer, was born Oct. 20, 1868 at Annawan, Illinois. As a small girl she came to Blair with her parents.

She was the third of six sisters: Mrs. O.M. Ireland, Mrs. J.M. Grimble, Mrs. J.L. Dixon, Mrs. Amy Garner and Mrs. G.G. Hines. All had preceded her in death except Mrs. Ireland, now at Plattsmouth, and Mrs. Hines, in Blair. There is also a half-sister, Mrs. Mary Knowington, Omaha. The late Joseph Gouchenouer was a half-brother. She and Jack Maher were married in 1893. Several years after his death, she and Mr. Latta were married, Dec. 25, 1911. They had lived at 503 South Walker Ave. many years.

Mrs. Latta was long a member of the Congregational Church and the Ladies Social Union. She belonged to the Rebekah Lodge and the Past Noble Grand.

Besides her husband she is survived by the two sisters, Mrs. Ireland and Mrs. Hines; her half-sister, Mrs. Knowington; and a number of nieces and nephews.

FUNERAL FOR MRS. LATTA WAS THURSDAY

Funeral services for Mrs. Lou W. Latta, an account of whose death was published in last week’s Pilot-Tribune, were held last Thursday at the Congregational Church. The Rev. Watson F. Lewis officiated, and burial, directed by the Campbell Mortuary, was in Blair Cemetery. Pallbearers were Reed O’Hanlon Sr., H.L. Morris, Clyde M. Allen, G.F. Bross, H.J. Cooke and J.H. Grimm.

Among those present from out of town for the rites were Mrs. O.M. Ireland, Plattsmouth, Nebraska; Mrs. Mary Knowington, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Ireland, Louis Ireland, Mr. and Mrs. C.W. Gochenouer, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Mulick, Mrs. Edith Fox, Walter Watt and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Wagoner, all of Omaha; Mr. and Mrs. C.A. Dixson and son Wilbur, Sioux City; Mr. and Mrs. N.P. Hansen, Havelock, Nebraska; Mr. and Mrs. William Latta, Mr. and Mrs. Frank White, I.N. Warrick, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Corbin, Mrs. Anna Lukens, Mrs. Jessie Speilman, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Palmer, Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Hall, Miss Cora Lydick, Walter Lydick, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Lydick, Mrs. Lucy Lydick, Mrs. Jessie Lydick, Mrs. William Bobbett, Mrs. Mary Corbin, George McGuire, Roy Baker, Ivan Cramer, Frank Lytle, all of Tekamah; Fred Huff, Louisville, Nebraska, Mrs. Andrew Caldwell, Walthill, Nebraska, and Mrs. Bessie Brink, Los Angeles, California.
