COUNTY PIONEER SUCCUMBS AT SCHUYLER

Born In Calhoun In 1860, Was Long Time Resident Of Blair

Word reached Blair relatives Monday of the death of Mrs. Nettie Stockton of Schuyler, Nebraska. Mrs. Stockton was a native of Calhoun, having been born there in 1860. She grew to womanhood and received her early education in Calhoun. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Case.

In early life she was wed to Wm. Stockton. Three children survive her. The husband died a number of years ago. In her later years she has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Gus Lyden of Schuyler. The three remaining children are Mrs. Lyden of Schuyler, Guy and Vard Stockton of California.

Besides the children, she has two sisters, Mrs. Grant Allen of Blair and Mrs. Jessie Smith of Watertown, South Dakota. Funeral rites were held Wednesday at Schuyler, and interment was made at 2 p.m. in the Calhoun cemetery.

Mrs. Stockton was a descendant of one of the oldest pioneer families of the county. She was always much interested in Washington county and was zealously interest in the Pioneer and Old Settlers picnics and never missed an opportunity to attend the meetings. But few of the pioneers are left and with her passing another of that old group has gone, and as the petals of the rose drop one by one so pass this hardy band of pioneers who lived in that glamorous past now forever gone.
