OMAHA YOUTH DIES IN CRASH OF PICKUPS NEAR NASHVILLE

STRUCK PICKUP TRUCK PARKED ON THE SHOULDER OF HIGHWAY 73

A 15-year-old North High student who was a passenger in a pickup truck died early Monday at Immanuel Hospital after the truck struck another pickup parked on the shoulder of Highway 73 a mile south of the Douglas-Washington County line.

Douglas County authorities identified him as Brad Janisch, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward L. Janisch, 11036 Calhoun Road. The accident occurred at 11:15 p.m. Sunday and young Janisch died five hours later. The driver of the pickup, Walter A. Wrasse Jr., 18, Rural Route 6, Florence Station, was in critical condition Monday at Immanuel.

The truck that was struck was occupied by Wayne C. Gustavson, 18, of 3338 King Street, and Nancy Williams, 16, Rural Route 6, Florence Station. Officers said Gustavson was off the highway and apparently dropping Miss Williams at her home when struck by the other truck.

Gustavson and Miss Williams were treated and released from Immanuel.

Janisch's father said his son was apparently enroute home from an evening of snowmobiling with Wrasse.

Officers said the road was ice covered at the time.
