#1-15 Jan., 1908 - The Pilot - Martin Murphy

Martin Murphy, an old settler in this county, died at 2 o’clock Monday morning of heart trouble, having been bedfast since Jan. 1st. The funeral was held at the Catholic church in this city at 10:30 this morning, Father O’Driscol officiating. Mr. Murphy was born in county Nayo, Ireland in April, 1840, and came to this country in 1863, settling first in Pennsylvania. Three years later he moved to Illinois and from there to Omaha, Neb. where he was married to Miss Mary McCander. He lived there some ten years and then moved onto a farm near Kennard, afterwards on the farm about seven miles south of town where he died. Besides his wife he leaves five children, James, Michael, Agnes, John and Stephen, all at home. These and many friends deeply mourn the passing of a good husband, father and friend.

#2-16 Jan., 1908 - The Blair Democrat - Martin Murphy

Martin Murphy died at his home in Richard township early Monday morning, and the funeral services were held from the Catholic church in this city yesterday morning, Rev. Father O’Driscoll officiating.

Deceased was 67 years old and came to this county in the early days. He was well thought of by all who knew him and his remains were followed to their last resting place by a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends.
