#1-15 Jan., 1908 - The Pilot - Newell Elisha Bump

Newell Elisha Bump died at his home in this city at about 5 o’clock last Friday evening and the funeral was held at the Episcopal church at 1:30 Sunday afternoon. Deceased was born at Stockton, N.Y. March 5th, 1839 and was married to Alsina A. Annes Sept. 1, 1861, who died in childbirth June 9, 1868. On Jan. 2, 1870 he was married to Elizabeth Landsbury at Fredonia, N.Y. who survives him. They came to Blair in November, 1875 and Mr. Bump was in partnership with T. P. Lippincott in the implement business for about ten years. Later he did blacksmithing until his health failed him. Mr. Bump came of an excellent family, his father, Lucius Bump, being known in his community as “The Friend of Humanity” and is so styled on his tombstone. Mr. Bump was a kindly, quiet man, a good citizen and will be greatly missed by those who knew him best.

#2-16 Jan. 1908 - The Blair Democrat - N. E. Bump

N. E. Bump, an old and respected resident of this city, died at his home last Friday evening and was buried Sunday afternoon, the services being held at the Episcopal church and presided over by Rev. Marsh.

Deceased was born March 5th, 1839 in Chautauqua county, N.Y. and was married to Aleena A. Ames September 1, 1861. This wife died in child birth June 9, 1869, the child dying at the same time. Mr. Bump was again married on January 2, 1870 at Fredona, N.Y. to Elizabeth Lansbury.

With his wife, deceased came to Blair in 1876 and for a number of years was in the implement business with T. P. Lippincott. Later he engaged in blacksmithing. He was a son of Lucius Bump, know in the east as the “friend of humanity”.
