DR. HAROLD JANZEN, 78

Dr. Harold "Hal" Janzen, 78, of Grand Island, died Yhursday, March 5, 1998, at St. Francis Skilled Care Center.

Services were Monday at Kleine Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Denton R. Jantzi officiated. Burial was in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.

Dr. Janzen was born Sept. 20, 1919, at Buffalo, N.Y., to rudolph and Florence (Ely) Janzen. As a young child he moved to Kansas City, Mo. He graduated from Paseo High School in 1938. He graduated from the Findley Engineering College, also in Kansas City. He served in the Army Air Corp. for 10 years, serving at the Battle of the Bulge in World War II and also served in the Korean Conflict. He graduated from the University of Nebraska Dental College in 1960 and practiced his profession for 23 years in Grand Island. On May 15, 1970, he married Darline R. Sprick at Lincoln.

He had served as a volunteer dentist at Belitz, South America for a short time. He was also an artist. He was a member of the Rock and Jem Club, the Cosmopolitan club, the Masonic Lodge and the Air Stream Camping Group.

Survivors are his wife, Darline of Grand Island; a daughter, Peggy Holtorf of Grand Island; a granddaughter, Heather Holtorf, all of Grand Island; a brother, Robert Janzen of Kansas City; and a sister, Sue Dagby of Springfield, Mo.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Walt and Rudy.
