Little Leslie Truhlsen who was five years old last March, died at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter F. Truhlsen at 3 o’clock Friday morning from an attack of appendicitis, and the funeral largely attended was held from the German Lutheran church in Blair Saturday at one o’clock, a short service being held at the home at eleven o’clock. Little Leslie had been sick about nine days with the dread disease and while all that kind hands could do was done for him, his frail form could not withstand the attack. Thursday his condition became so serious that it was decided that the only chance for recovery was in an operation, but when that performed it was found that he was beyond the power of human aid. Little Leslie was a bright and winsome child and his untimely demise was a severe shock to the many friends of the family whose sympathies go out to them in the sad hour of their bereavement. He leaves beside his parents two brothers, Elmer, 3 years old, and the babe born to his mother the afternoon before his death.

#2-28 June, 1905 - Blair Courier - Leslie Truhlsen

Mr. and Mrs. Peter Truhlsen lost a bright little five year old boy of appendicitis last Friday morning. On account of the mother’s illness, Rev. E. Eckhardt conducted a short service at the farm about 6 miles west of town at 11 o’clock Saturday morning. A regular funeral service was held at the German Lutheran church in this city at 1 o’clock. The little fellow was operated upon at about 4 o’clock Thursday afternoon, but it was all too late, and death occurred at 3 o’clock in the morning. At 6 o’clock the same evening of the operation Mrs. Truhlsen gave birth to a son, and mother and child are doing nicely at this writing. The writer went to school with Mrs. Truhlsen, Miss Katie Reeh she was then, and with a host of friends extend our heartfelt sympathy to her and Mr. Truhlsen.

Leslie, the five year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Truhlsen, died of appendicitis last Friday morning, having been operated on the evening before by Drs. Summers of Omaha and Pruner of Kennard. The funeral was held Saturday from the German church, and interment was made in the Blair cemetery. The bereaved parents have the sympathy of the entire community.
