17 Dec., 1903 - Blair Republican - Jane McGuire

Died at Benson, Neb. Dec. 14th at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mary Bowes, of old age, Mrs. Jane McGuire, aged nearly 83 years. The deceased was born in county West Meath, Ireland and came to America when 18 years of age. Was married to Phillip McGuire in N.Y. City who died in 1870. In 1880 she came to this county which was her home for many years. There are four living children out of a family of eight. These are John and Joseph McGuire and Mrs Bowes, all of Benson, and Mrs. Jennie Beaty of Central City. Bernard and John served during the Civil War in Co. C. 4th, N.Y. Regt. The funeral was from St. Joseph church on Wednesday of this week, and burial in Blair cemetery. All the children were here except Mrs. Beaty. There was a large attendance of sympathetic friends of the family.

Note: Ancestry records have her being form in Ireland in 1818 and coming to the United State in 1835. Her children's name are recorded as James, John H., Bennett, Jane Elizabeth, Mary, Thomas, and Joseph. Her maiden name McIntyre.
