21 May, 1903 - Blair Republican - Mrs. E. G. McCrady

Mrs. E. G. McCrady was born in the state of New York in 1825, was married there and then came to Blair about 1869 and settled on the homestead four miles west of this city. She was a woman of culture and refinement and one of the first teachers in this section. Here she reared her family after the death of her husband, consisting of Mrs. Charles Slader, at whose home in Des Moines she died on Sunday, May 17th, aged 78 years; next daughter was Mrs. Theresa Willis, residing in Oklahoma; Emma S., wife of Chas. Viele, died Dec. 8th last; and Mrs. Jessie Hobbs, who arrived this morning, and the funeral was from the Rose Hill church today, and burial in that Cemetery. The service was by Rev. J. L. Vallow.
