#1-9 Apr., 1903 - Blair Republican - Fanny (Chandler) Rowe

Mrs. Fanny Rowe (nee Chandler) was born in Wisconsin June 15, 1859, and died in Blair, Nebr. April 2, 1903, aged 43 years, 9 mo. and 16 days.

In 1877 she was united in marriage to Albert Rowe of whom she was sadly bereft about 14 years since by an unfortunate accident in which he was killed. His death preyed upon her mind, predisposed her to disease to which she soon fell a victim. She has been a confirmed invalid ever since. A peculiar feature of her affliction was the development of a disfiguration of face and features which led her to seclude herself from society as much as possible. This accounts for the fact that she has been so rarely seen at public functions during her nine years of residence in this city.

She joined the M. E. church years ago, and her certificate of membership is among her belongings. Prior to her affliction she was active in church work. She was a good organist and sang well.

Though unknown to me personally, those who have been associated with her in her home life for any years speak in highest terms of her womanly instincts and Christian character.

As the end drew near she recognized its approach, and though loath to leave those she had become so thoroughly identified with during years of service rendered her by them in her invalidism, she nevertheless expressed her readiness to depart and be with Christ, which doubtless she has found, “is far better”. A loving mother and a devoted husband welcomed her to the other shore. An aged father with halting step, sadly bereft, pursues his lonely pilgrimage along the shining way in the fellowship of the Methodist Episcopal Church, pathetically beckons the hour of his triumph when he may also go to his crowning, where there is neither sickness, pain nor death. Other relatives and friends also mourn her departure and look hopefully toward the future.
