#1-22 June, 1904 - The Pilot - Nannette Rodman

News reached Blair yesterday of the sudden death of Miss Nannie Rodman at Arlington. Miss Rodman some time ago accepted a position with the P.Z. Department store at Arlington, and seemingly enjoyed her work very much. Since her mother’s death she has not been in the best of health, though for the past year she has been improving and her friends had hoped that she would soon be fully recovered. Her sister, Hettie, visited with her Monday night and came back to Blair on the morning train Tuesday, and when she left her sister she was in good spirits and reported to the store as usual in the morning. The cause of her death is so far unknown. Her brother-in-law, John Moore, went over on the afternoon train yesterday and brought the body over this morning. Coroner Pierce was notified but could find no grounds justifying an inquest. Miss Rodman would have been twenty six years old had she lived till the 24th of this month. She was a graduate of the High School with the class of ’95. The funeral will be held from the home on West Washington street tomorrow (Thursday).

#2-23 June, 1904 - Blair Republican - Nannette Rodman

The sad news reached this city from Arlington shortly after noon yesterday that Miss Nannette Rodman had fallen dead from heart failure a few moments before. She had been working for P. Z. The Shoe Man over there since January of last year and had just gone to her boarding house, John Laaker’s residence for dinner, when the summons came. She had stepped out into the yard and after waiting a few minutes for her to come in to dinner, Mrs. Laaker looked out and saw her lying on the ground. She went to her and immediately called Dr. Davis who lives next door, but he pronounced her dead. Her sister, Hettie, and John Moore went over on the afternoon train and brought the body here this morning. The funeral was held at 11 o’clock this morning at the Rodman residence on West Washington Street. Rev. Couffer, her pastor in Arlington, officiated at the service. Nannette was born in Washington county, Indiana on June 24, 1878, and had she lived but three days longer would have been 26 years of age. She came to this city with her mother in 1883 and here grew to promising womanhood. Her mother died about six years ago and up to a year and a half ago Miss Mary and Nannette kept a boarding house on Lincoln street. She leaves three sisters, Mary, Hettie and Mrs. John Moore and two brothers, Charles of Omaha and Frank of this city. The entire community will sympathize with these brothers and sisters in the bitter grief which they are called upon to suffer today.

#3-27 June, 1904 - The Pilot - Nannette Rodman

The funeral of Miss Nannette Rodman was held from the house last Thursday afternoon and was largely attended by friends of the family. Miss Rodman was one of Blair’s most promising young ladies and deep regrets are felt at her early taking away. The cause of death is not know, but probably resulted from a ruptured blood vessel in the head.
