28 Apr., 1904 - Blair Republican and the Pilot dated 27 Apr., 1904- Margaret R. Crawford

DIED - At the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. S. Mortlock, Mrs. Margaret R. Crawford on Sunday, April 24, at 6 a.m. of cancer of the pylorus. She was 71 years and 6 days old. Mrs. Crawford was born at Potter’s Mills, Centre Co., Penn. April 18, 1833. In early life she gave her heart to the Lord and united with the Methodist Episcopal Church there. She was married in 1851 and was the mother of two children, Mrs. J. S. Mortlock and William Crawford, both living in Blair. In 1889 she came to Scribner, Nebraska, and from there came to Blair in ’92 where she has since resided. In 1895 she united with the Blair M. E. church of which she was a member at the time of her death. As the winter months passed, her health began to decline until she was compelled to take to her bed where for the past five or six weeks she has been a patient sufferer. Her faith in God was firm and as the end drew near she said “I am ready to live or die as God sees best”. The funeral services were conducted at the residence of Dr. J. S. Mortlock by the Rev. J. B. Priest on Monday, April 25, at 2 p.m. where many friends came to pay their tribute to the departed.

“Why should our tears in sorrow flow
When God recalls his own,
And bids them leave a world of woe,
For an immortal crown?
But let our hearts in every woe still say,
“Thy will be done.”
