On Monday of last week Ed Slader, who was at the home of his Uncle Franklin at Florence, drank some carbolic acid by mistake which soon caused his death. The remains were interred in Blair Cemetery by the side of his mother who was the first wife of Charles Slader, well known in this city. Deceased was born at the time his mother died 36 years ago. The service was at the grave by Rev. J. W. Larkin of this city.

Note: His mother was Rosannah R. (Franklin) Slader Born 13 May 1846 Ohio, USA Died 13 Mar 1868 (aged 21). Records indicate that Rosannah died at the time of Ed's birth and that he is interred next to his mother in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery.
