#1-6 Jan., 1904 - Blair Courier - Max VanArsdale

Max VanArsdale, who has been struggling in the toils of consumption for some time, and has traveled all over the union in search of health, died last Tuesday. His remains were laid to rest at Rose Hill on New Year’s day by the side of his father, Ira J. VanArsdale, who was killed in a saw mill in Washington several years ago. Max was buried by Co. E., N.N.G. of Tekamah of which he was a member.

Max VanArsdale was born August 22nd, 1884 near Vacoma, Washington County, Nebraska, and died December 28th, 1903 at El Paso, Texas of pulmonary tuberculosis, contracted while attending school at Des Moines, Iowa, where he was taking a course in electrical engineering. He was a bright and capable young man, and growing from boyhood in Tekamah, had many friends who grieved at his demise and sympathize with the bereaved mother. The funeral was held at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Latta Friday morning, Dr. Palmer of the Episcopal church conducting the services, after which the remains were taken to the Rose Hill cemetery in Washington county, and interred beside those of his father. The funeral was attended by Co. E.M.M.G. of this city of which the deceased was a member. - Tekamah Journal.
