John Japp
Died on 5/10/1916
Buried in German Cemetery

Mr. John Japp passed away Tuesday morning at 12:30 at the age of 79 years 7 months and 29 days. He was born in Aocum, Germany, Sept. 10th, 1836. The funeral will be held at the house Thursday at 2 o'clock with burial at the German cemetery. He came to America in 1857 and in 1887 he came to Nebraska and homesteaded the place now occupied by his son, John Jr.

He was married Oct. 12th, 1907 to Miss Katherine Wiese. To this union twelve children were born, eleven of whom with their mother survive to mourn the loss of a kind and indulgent father. His sons are August, John, Will, George, Ed and Ernest, all of whom are married except the latter two and all live near town. His daughters are Mrs. Minnie Schneider, who lives near Bennington; Mrs. Harry Miller, Mrs. Sherman Anderson, Mrs. Buck Rosenbaum, Mrs. Lester White, all living here. A number of grandchildren also survive him.

We will all miss Mr. Japp; he was a kind old gentleman with a good word for all. For a couple of years now his health has not been good but when the end came it was rather unexpected as he was not seriously ill until this week. His heart failing him coupled with his advanced age was too much for his strength. Everyone in town and this adjoining country will join in sympathizing with the bereaved family.
