MRS. E. M. BEATY DIED WEDNESDAY

Mrs. E. M. Beaty, well known in Blair where she has made her home for a half century, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. F. Rankin of Medford, Oregon at 2 a.m. Wednesday morning. She would have been 89 years of age on the 28th of this month.

As yet no detail as to her burial is known, except that she will be brought to Blair for burial.

Mrs. Beaty fell last August and while no bones were broken the shock seemed to lessen her vitality and she has been failing since.

A complete obituary will be given next week.

MRS. LUCRETIA MAUNE

Mrs. Eugene S. Beaty passed away Wednesday morning, October 10, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Enid Beaty Rankin of Medford, Oregon. The body was brought to Blair, arriving Sunday morning and funeral services were held Monday morning at 9 o’clock at the St. Francis Borgia Catholic church with Rev. O’Donnell officiating, and interment was made in the Holy Cross cemetery under the supervision of the Bendorf Funeral Home.

Mrs. Beaty was a pioneer of Nebraska, having been born in Brownsville, Nebraska on October 28, 1862. She was of Irish parentage, both mother and father having been born and educated in Ireland.

On September 29, 1884 she was married to Eugene S. Beaty. The ceremony being performed in Sioux City. From the time of their marriage Blair was their home The husband was a general contractor and bridge builder and for years had charge of building the county bridges. He died January 2, 1920 and since then Mrs. Beaty continued to call Blair her home and kept the beautiful South Street home which was so dear to her and where she had spent so many happy years.

To Mr. and Mrs. Beaty two children were born, a son, E. Mark Beaty and a daughter, Mrs. Enid Beaty Rankin of Medford, Oregon. Two granddaughters, Mrs. William Hayes of Omaha and Mrs. A. Bruce McDonald of Medford, Oregon and one great granddaughter, Catherine Ann Hayes of Omaha. These are the survivors.

Mrs. Beaty was a woman of culture. She was educated in Notre Dame Academy of Chicago. She was known quite extensively as a writer of poetry and was an ardent lover of music and enjoyed her flowers which she grew with loving care in her early life.

Quiet and reserved and yet with the most kindly spirit, she was spoken of in the highest respect by her friends and acquaintances.
