Wife Of Former Editor Dies At 83 Years. O.E.S. Burial Ceremony

Funeral services were held for Mrs. Sarah Swan at the Methodist Church in Herman Tuesday afternoon with Rev. Robert Wigert and Rev. A. W. Clarke of Schuyler officiating. Two beautiful songs were sung by Roland Wachter with Mrs. Ted Swanson, pianist.

The funeral ceremony of the Order of The Eastern Star was given by the officers of the Herman Chapter of which Mrs. Swan was a member.

Mrs. Sarah Swan, born Sarah A. Herrick, on a farm in Missouri January 23, 1979, and passed away in an Omaha Hospital Saturday morning, February 17, 1951, at the age of 83 years and twenty five days following a brief illness.

On May 18, 1886 she was married to Harry L. Swan and to this union seven children were born.

The family moved to Herman in April, 1918, and except for two years, which she spent with a son and family in Portland, Oregon, Herman has been her home.

Mrs. Swan has been a faithful and active member of the Methodist church and Ladies Aid since 1939. She has been a member of the Herman Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star since 1920.

Mrs. Swan endeared herself to all who knew her. She leaves to mourn her loss four sons, Herrick of Billings, Montana; Robert of Rolfe, Iowa; Albert Ernest of Portland, Oregon; and Harry L., Jr. of Sacramento, Calif.; ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, two brothers, R. E Herrick of Seattle, Washington and W. V. Herrick of Colorado Springs, Colo., other relatives and a host of friends. Pallbearers were A. J. Jespersen, James Van Horn, Faye Jones, Melvern West, Clare Johnson and Ted Swanson.

She was preceded in death by her husband who died in 1935 and by thee daughters.
