W. Douglas Carter, 86, died March 29 at his home. Services will be at 2 p. m., April 2, at the First Baptist Church, Rev. Alan Howe officiating. Burial will be in the Blair Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Robert McMillan; Clarence Matzen; Richard Lippincott; Clyde Sappenfield; Lyle David, and Willard Warrick.

He is survived by a sister-in-law, Laura Carter of Tekamah and nephews Lee Carter of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Richard Jones of LaCenter, Washington.

He was born April 13, 1900, to Charles and Minerva (Lowe) Carter, a pioneer family.

He was a resident of Blair all his life.

Carter attended Pleasant View rural school, Blair High school, and the Nebraska State University specializing in dairying. He worked at the profession a number of years. Then, he had his own ice cream business for a number of years.

Before his retirement, he was in the refrigeration business and also helped Gene Kinnison at the Bendorf Funeral Home.

The lifelong bachelor served six months in the army during World War II.

He was a member of the Odd Fellows; American Legion; and was instrumental in the founding of Blair Over 60 Center, of which he was an active member.
