KATHERINE KELLY CALLED HOME

Katherine M. Kelly was born in Manotick Village, Otawa, Canada September 29th, 1869, and died at Blair, Nebraska January 21, 1951, aged 81 years, 3 months and 22 days. She was the daughter of David and Elizabeth Fogarty Kelly, and came with her parents while a small child to Mo. Valley, Iowa and later with her parents moved to Blair where she has since resided at the family residence 500 West Park Street.

Of the family preceding her in death, were her parents and four brothers, three of whom died in infancy and the fourth, William Kelly, who died on Febr. 17, 1950.

Two other brothers, John and David, reside on the west coast, and two sisters, Mary and Elizabeth at home still survive. The two surviving sisters have done all that human could do during her last illness, every desire or wish was a command to them, and in loving kindness they gave all for her in the hope that she might survive. She had been an invalid for a year.

Two nieces, Margaret of Blair and Ethel of Lincoln, and a nephew, Paul of Blair, also survive and with the sisters mourn their great loss. Besides these, there is a niece, Dorothy, and a grand nephew of California.

Deceased was a faithful and practical member of the St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, and for many years was a leader of the church choir. She was blessed with a wonderful soprano voice and loved the church music. She was active in every phase of her church and its work.

To those who knew Katherine Kelly it is not necessary to say that she was loved and respected by all. When in business for a long term she met thousands of people and all held her in high esteem and the older friends who knew her best realize only too well that a real individual whose life was above reproach has been called.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 24th, at 9 a.m. from the St. Francis Borgia church with Father Edward C. O’Donnell officiating with Requiem High Mass at the service, and interment was made in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Blair.

She has answered the call to which all mortals must heed, but in her going she leaves the memories of a life of usefulness and devotion that makes a long list of wonderful and pleasant memories.
