MRS. WINIFRED SELBY DIED LAST THURSDAY

Services were held Sunday for Mrs. Winifred Selby, 65, who had passed away Thursday, January 18th, at the Blair Hospital. Mrs. Selby had been a long time resident of Blair.

Mrs. Selby was born at Plattsmouth, Nebraska October 17th, 1855, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John I. Unruh.

She moved to Blair with her family in 1902 where she grew to womanhood and attended high school. Following her graduation, she attended the University of Nebraska. Later she attended and graduated from the normal class of the Chicago Art Institute.

Returning to this vicinity, she taught art in high schools at South Omaha and at Mason City, Iowa.

At Mason City she met Joe Selby to whom she was married and the couple lived there until Mr. Selby’s death some years ago. Upon his death she returned to Blair to live with her parents in their home on west Grant street.

While making Blair her home, she taught art at Dana College part of the time.

Mrs. Selby leaves to mourn her passing one brother, George O. Unruh of Mondamin, Iowa and two sisters, Mrs. Cora Struxness of Miniatare, Nebraska and Mrs. Mable Butler of Palatka, Florida. There are also three surviving nieces and four nephews.

Pallbearers at the funeral services were Clyde Sappenfield, Roy Kirkpatrick, Vernon Robeson, Bill Ingle, Robert McMillan and Everett Lamb.

The Rev. R. E. Ditlevsen of the Baptist church was in charge of the service, and interment was made in the Blair cemetery under the direction of the Bendorf Funeral home.
