HARRY NEFF, 85, DIED DEC. 18

Harry Neff, an early settler of Washington County, died December 18, 1950 at the Fred Long home in Blair.

Deceased was born Nov. 24, 1865 in Clay County, Ill, and when a small boy moved with his parents to this county where the family made their permanent home. He was one of nine children born to Mr. and Mrs. George Neff.

The family settled in the Rose Hill vicinity, and their home school district was the Neff school, named in honor of the father. Of the nine children, only one sister, Mrs. Chris Rasmussen of Fremont is living.

On October 15, 1886 he was married to Miss Nellie Cushman, the ceremony being performed at the Vacoma church, long since gone. After their marriage they resided for a number of years in the Rose Hill neighborhood and then moved to a farm north of Spiker. Mrs. Neff passed away several years ago. He leaves one daughter, Mrs. Addie Spiker; three grandsons, Lloyd, Chester and LeRoy Spiker; one granddaughter, Mrs. Howard Taylor and several great grandchildren.

Funeral servies will be held today, Thursday, at the Methodist Church in Herman, with Rev. Robert Wigert officiating, and interment under the supervision of the Truhlsen Funeral Home will be made in the Rose Hill cemetery.

The pallbearers were Wm. and Carl Anderson, Stanley Marsh, A. T. Van Deventer, Robert and Chester Larsen.
