PASTOR SKRIVER S . NIELSEN

Skriver S. Nielsen, son of Pastor Hans Nielsen and his wife, Janet, nee Van Stocken, was born in Wisner, Nebraska on January 18, 1901.

In 1921 he entered Dana College and in 1925 the University of Nebraska, and after his graduation at the latter institution he did graduate work until 1929. Entered Trinity Seminary in the fall of 1930. Upon his graduation in 1933 the was ordained at the convention in Waupaca, Wisconsin on June 11, 1933. On June 2, 1933 he was united in marriage with Miss Eleanora Sorensen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. C. Sorensen of Blair.

Pastor Nielsen served congregations at Lincoln, Nebraska; Davey, Nebraska; Westbrook, Maine; Denver, Colorado; and also on a part time basis the Altura Mission at Altura, Colorado. He passed away suddenly on November 14 at 5:40 p.m. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Mrs. Eleanora Nielsen, his stepmother, Mrs. Hans Nielsen of Blair, and his father and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. P. C. Sorensen in Blair, and other relatives.

The funeral services for Pastor Nielsen were held first in Bethany Lutheran Church in Denver on Friday, November 17.

Services were also held in Blair on Monday, November 20, in First Lutheran Church. President of Synod, the Reverend Hans C. Jersild, delivered the funeral sermon and Pastor M. G. Christensen brought a greeting on behalf of the Nebraska District. The service was in charge of the local pastor, Harold C. Jorgensen.

The body of Pastor Nielsen was laid to rest in the Sorensen family lot in Blair Cemetery.

Mrs. Nielsen is returning to Denver to assist the congregation until it can secure a new pastor.
