Wendell W. Matheny, 85, of Blair, died Saturday, July 24, 2010, at the Crowell Memorial Home in Blair.

Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. this Tuesday, July 27, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home, with a memorial service to follow at 3 p.m.

Wendell W. Matheny was born June 28, 1925, in Westboro, Mo., to Clarence and Lizzie Matheny.

He lived in Omaha and Yates Center, Kan., before finally moving to Crowell Home.

He served in the United States Army during World War II, from July 1944 to Aug. 1946.

He lived a full life, and was involved in the construction industry, oil and gas industry, and over-the-road trucking. He loved working with any type of heavy equipment.

He is survived by his children, Jeff, Wende, and Phillip; a brother, Mac; sisters, Dorothy and Maralee; and the mother of his children, Geraldine.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard, and sister, Elizabeth.
