MAN STRUCK IN ACCIDENT SUCCUMBS

Matthew Biggins Dies After Being Struck By Oil Transport

LIGHTS OF CAR BLINDED DRIVER

Matthew Biggins, 70 year old resident of North Third Street, died in the Blair Hospital Tuesday evening of injuries he had received shortly before nine o’clock when struck by a truck on Highway 73 near his home.

The accident took place at Third and Park Street in front of the home of Judge H. J. Madsen.

The truck, owned by the Nebraska-Iowa Oil Company of Blair and driven by Don Petersen, also of Blair, was traveling south at the time of the accident. Mr. Biggins was reported to be crossing from the east to the west side of the street when the accident occurred.

Petersen, a driver of many years experience, has declared that he was temporarily blinded by the lights of an oncoming car and did not see Mr. Biggins.

Survivors are Mr. Biggins’ wife, Mary, and one daughter, Mrs. Faye Bowman of Blair.
