MRS. BERTHA LOWE RITES HELD IN HERMAN

Resident Of The Herman Vicinity For Over Sixty Years

Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist church in Herman for Mrs. Bertha Lowe who had been a resident of Herman and vicinity for more than sixty years. Rev. Robert Wigert had charge of the services, and interment was made in the Herman cemetery. Mrs. Claude Yowell and Mrs. Kermit Goll sang two beautiful songs accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Ted Swanson. Pallbearers were Wilbur Lowe, James Van Horn, Paul Hancock, Carl Nelson, Niels Larsen and Ted Swanson.

Bertha E. Lowe, daughter of August and Julia Warner, was born in Wanatah, Indiana August 28, 1868, one of a family of nine children. She passed away at the Clarkson hospital in Omaha on July 29, 1950 at the age of 81 years, 11 months and 1 day. She came to Herman when 20 years old to reside with her brother, Henry Warner.

On September 23, 1891 she was united in marriage to Forrest W. Lowe who preceded her in death on December 20, 1926. To this union four sons and one daughter were born. All of her married life, with the exception of four years when they lived near Seward, Nebr., was spent in the Herman vicinity.

In her early years at home she became affiliated with the Methodist church. She was a member of the Degree of Honor Lodge, the Order of the Eastern Star and the Methodist Ladies Aid.

She is survived by four sons, Gordon, Stanley, Bert and August, one daughter, Mrs. Pearl Richter, seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Tela Diedrick of Chicago, other relatives and friends.
