Sharon R. Moon, 67
Her family was her world
Sharon R. Moon, 67, died unexpectedly in her sleep on Sept. 16, 2011, at her home in Phoenix, Ariz.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, at the Arlington Community Church. Interment will be in the Kennard Cemetery.
Sharon Ruth Specht was born Nov. 7, 1943, in Blair. At around the age of 2 ½, she was stricken with a high fever that caused the loss of her hearing. She attended the Nebraska School for the Deaf in Omaha and graduated in 1962. After graduation, she worked for several years for Western Electric Company in Millard.
On July 10, 1965, she married Colin Moon. The couple lived in Fremont before moving to Phoenix in 1970.
Her second love was all the lifelong friendships she made at the Nebraska School for the Deaf and being a member of the Phoenix Association for the Deaf. She was a dedicated wife; mother and friend who loved to watch her children and grandchildren play sports. Her family was her world. She also loved bowling, playing cards and watching Manchester United soccer with her husband and having a good time. Her laugh was infectious and her smile was endearing. She will be dearly missed by those who knew her.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Colin; three children, Jason and his wife, Reneé, Cole and Lisa; four grandchildren; and sister, Phyllis McGonigle, all of Phoenix; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gordon and Joan Specht of Columbus and Stanley and Lois Misfeldt of Arlington; sister-in-law, Maureen May of Fremont; and many extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Dorothy Misfeldt.
Memorials may be directed to the president of the Phoenix Association for the Deaf, Inc.
