MRS. MINNIE BRANDERT RITES WEDNESDAY

Herman - Mrs. Minnie Brandert, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Meier, was born December 12, 1873 in the Vacoma vicinity northeast of Telbasta, and passed away at the Clarkson hospital in Omaha July 22, 1950 at the age of 76 years, seven months and ten days. She has been in the Clarkson hospital, critically ill the past month and had been in failing health for the past year.

She was confirmed on April 3, 1887 at the Lutheran church in Fontanelle.

Minnie Meier and William Brandert were married March 2, 1898 at Fontanelle, Neb. Mr. and Mrs. Brandert went to their new home in the New England neighborhood where they lived until about 1918 when they moved to their new home in Herman where Mrs. Brandert has since lived.

She lived her entire life in Washington County. In 1935 Mr. Brandert passed away. No children were born to this union. However, she raised a niece, Elaine Katt, now Mrs. Claude Christ of Portland, Oregon. Mrs. Christ was unable to attend the funeral because of illness.

Aunt Minnie, as she was commonly known by both young and old, was dearly loved by all that knew her. She was a great lover of flowers and had one of the most beautiful lawns in town. She always attended her own church whenever possible and was a great worker in the Methodist Ladies Aid in Herman. She has been president of the bazaar department for years.

Mrs. Brandert leaves to mourn her passing her niece, Mrs. Claude Christ, two sisters, Ricka (Mrs. Herman Brandert) of Hooper and Julia (Mrs. P. H. Katt) of Arlington. Two sisters Mrs. Henry Hue and Mrs. Clause Katt and four brothers, William, Henry, Herman and Ernest Meier preceded her in death.

The funeral was at 1:30 o’clock Wednesday at the Paul Hancock home in Herman and at 2 p.m. at the St. John’s Lutheran church east of Telbasta. Rev. Paul Wiegman of the St. John’s Lutheran in Tekamah conducted the services.

Pallbearers were six nephews of Mrs. Branderts.
