MRS. GUSTAFSON SUCCUMBS AT 81

Mrs. A. Emil Gustafson, 81, a resident of the Oakland and Telbasta communities for about 60 years, died Dec. 23, 1949 after a lingering illness. She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Eddie Blum, near Herman, Nebraska.

Selma Augusta Warnicke was born in Vastergotland, Sweden April 12, 1868, and departed this life Dec. 23, 1949 at the age of 81 years, 8 months and 11 days. She received her education in Sweden, and there she was confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She emigrated to America in 1890, coming to Oakland, Nebraska where on March 21, 1895 she was united in marriage to A. Emil Gustafson. They resided in the Oakland community until 1911 when they moved to the Telbasta community where they lived until 1936. They then spent several years with a daughter in Illinois where Mr. Gustafson died in 1942. Mrs. Gustafson returned to Nebraska in 1945 and made her home with her daughter until the time of her death.

Funeral services were held at the Evangelical United Brethren Church at Telbasta with Rev. H. A. Schwab in charge. Harold Meierhenry, George Niebaum and Dalton Strenger sang, accompanied by Mrs. Walter Schroeder.

Pallbearers were August Jordan, Henry Blum, Harlan Kruger, Paul Sprick, Clarence Schaftersman and Howard Meierhenry. Interment was in the Telbasta Cemetery. Survivors include four daughters: Mrs. V. R. Johnson of Davis Junction, Ill.; Miss Elin Gustafson of Fremont, Nebr.; Mrs. H. K. Niederdeppe of Arlington, Nebr.; and five grandchildren. A son and two daughters preceded her in death.
