JACOB SIERK DIED WEDNESDAY

Pioneer Of State And Native Of County, Dies Following Stroke Jacob Sierk, one of the most widely known men in Washington County, died Wednesday evening following a stroke Tuesday which left him paralyzed.

He was born November 22, 1867 on the old home farm west of Calhoun in the Long Creek school district where he lived until seven years ago when he moved to Ft. Calhoun where he has since resided.

In 1900 he was married to Miss Clara Bruse and to them five daughters were born: Mrs. Paul Melotz of Florence; Mrs. Harold Larsen of Omaha; Mrs. Hugo Kruse of Florence; Mrs. Fred Heise of Florence; and Mrs. Gifford Nielsen of Ft. Calhoun. These, with the wife, survive to mourn his death.

Besides the immediate family mentioned, he is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Lena Kruger, Mrs. Wm. Sievers and Miss Eda Sierk, all of this county, and by four brothers, Chas. Sierk; Henry Sierk of Colorado; Chris Sierk of Colorado and Will Sierk of Omaha.

Deceased as a man who was not only a successful farmer, but was civic minded and was for years a member of the Long Creek school board and at one time served as county supervisor and was an officer in a Farmers Insurance Co. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Ft. Calhoun.

Funeral services are planned for Saturday, April 1st, at 2 p.m. from the Calhoun church, and interment under the supervision of the Sievers Mortuary will be made in the Calhoun cemetery.
