MRS. FERN WEST FUNERAL RITES MONDAY

In Poor Health For Months. Dies At Age Of 56 Years

Services were held Monday afternoon at two o’clock at the Methodist church in Herman for Mrs. Fern West, conducted by Rev. A. W. Clark of Schuyler, an old friend of the family.

Sophia Ana Miller was born at Huron, Indiana January 7, 1894, and passed away in an Omaha hospital March 24, 1950 at the age of 56 years, 2 months and 17 days. She attended Herman school. On July 3, 1916 she was united in marriage to Mr. West at Omaha, and to this union one daughter was born, Mrs. Charles Richards of Tekamah, Nebraska. After their marriage they made their home in Herman until 1946 when they moved to Portland, Oregon. Six weeks ago Mr. and Mrs. West, with their daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Richards, moved to Tekamah, Neb.

Mrs. West has been in poor health the past three years.

Besides her husband and daughter, she leaves to mourn her passing four brothers and two sisters: J. B. Miller of Bedford, Indiana; Dale Miller of Seamour, Indiana; Edward and Everett Miller of Spokane, Wash.; Mrs. Docia Doane of Emison, Indiana; and Mrs. Josie Rutledge of Oakland, Neb. Other relatives and many friends.

When a school girl she endeared herself to her teachers and classmates and through life to everyone she came in contact with.

Mrs. Claude Yowell and Mrs. William Skinner sang and Mrs. Gordon Lowe accompanied them on the piano.

The pallbearers were six nephews of Mr. and Mrs. West. Everett Rutledge of Oakland, Neb; Joe Drayer of Lincoln; William Rose of Omaha; Tom Leech of Omaha; Monty West and James West.

Interment was in the Herman cemetery.
