MRS. CUNNINGHAM DIED FRIDAY IN FREMONT

Long-Time Resident Of Community Leaves Many Survivors.

Mrs. Charles C. Cunningham, the former Ethel L. Robertson, died Friday, January 27, 1950 at a Fremont Nursing Home where she had been for a couple of months. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Robertson, early Washington County pioneers, she was born October 31, 1865 at Casey, Ill. With her parents she came here at the age of three and grew to womanhood in the Marsh school district near Kennard. In 1888 on October 10th, she was united in marriage to Charles C. Cunningham, and has lived in and around Arlington all of her life. Mr. Cunningham preceded her in death in September, 1943. survivors are two sons, William M. Cunningham of Nickerson and Ellis R. Cuningham of Arlington; one daughter, Mrs. George Softley of Eugene, Ore.; two sisters, Mrs. Alice Menking of Elsie, Nebraska and Mrs. Jessie Tallman of Elk City, Nebraska and one brother, William Robertson of Wallace, Nebraska besides a number of loving grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral service were held on Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Methodist Church in Arlington with Pastor Robert Schlicter officiating. Mrs. Alvin Anderson and Miss Lucy Lawson sang “Going down the Valley” and “The Old Rugged Cross” accompanied by the church organist, Mrs. Allan W. Laaker. Interment was in the Kennard cemetery with Wm. Reckmeyer and Son Funeral directors in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Charles C. Cunningham, 84, of Arlington, died at a Fremont convalescent home late Friday. The funeral was held last Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Arlington Methodist church with Rev. Robert Schlichter officiating.

Mrs. Cunningham had been in poor health for some time on account of a fractured hip.

Born at Casey, Illinois on Oct. 31, 1865, she came to this county with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Robertson, when three years of age just after the state had been organized.

She married Charles Cunningham at her parent’s home on Oct. 10, 1888. The husband died in 1943. Mrs. Cunningham was a member of the Women’s Society of Christian Service of the Aarlington Methodist Church of which she was a devout member.

Survivors are two sons, Ellis R. of Arlington and William M. of Nickerson, a daughter, Mrs. George Softley of Eugene, Ore.; two sisters, Mrs. Alice Menking of Elsie and Mrs. Jessie Tallman of Elk City; and a brother, William Robertson of Wallace.

Burial was made in the Kennard cemetery with the W. A. Reckmeyer and Son Funeral Home of Arlington in charge of arrangements.
