MRS. FRED CUSHMAN DIED JANUARY 21

Lula A. Fletcher, daughter of Roland R. and Martha T. Fletcher, was born June 9, 1872 on a farm in the New England school district west of Herman. She attended the New England school and later was a student in the Blair High school. After her school years were over she was employed for a number of years on one of the Blair newspapers.

She was a member of the Baptist church and for 70 years had been active in its behalf. One daughter, Arlene, passed away in 1920.

One July 14, 1896 she was married to Fred Cushman. They made their home on a farm in the vicinity of Herman where seven children were born. The husband died in 1916, and Mrs. Cushman remained on the farm until 22 year ago when she moved to Blair where she resided until her death on Saturday evening, January 21st.

She leaves to mourn her passing four daughters, Mrs. Beulah Cooper, Fremont; Mrs. June Petersen, Decatur; Mrs. Nelle Cowan, Blair; and Mrs. Ruth Osborn, Blair; also two sons, Frank of Fremont and Fred of Hillsboro, Oregon; and twenty eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, besides a host of relatives and friends and one brother, Byron Fletcher of California.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon with Rev. D. D. Kennedy officiating, and interment was made under the supervision of the Campbell mortuary in the Rose Hill cemetery.
