MRS. JOHNSON DIES SUDDENLY AT HERMAN

Ill But A Few Hours. Wife of Herman Telephone Man.

Mrs. J. H. Johnson of Herman died suddenly this morning following a heart attack Wednesday evening. She took ill Wednesday evening and immediately a physician was called. At midnight she was placed in an oxygen tent as the last resort, but all efforts were futile and death came suddenly.

Mrs. Johnson was born in Weeping Water, Nebraska where she grew to womanhood. At twenty one years of age she was married to John H. Johnson at Weeping Water and in 1898 they moved to Herman.

In 1905 Mr. Johnson purchased a drug store in Herman and two years later he became the manager of the Herman Telephone system and took the active management. He is still manager and owner of the system. Prior to purchasing the drug store they farmed for a few years.

Two sons were born to Mr. and Mrs. Johnson, Harvey C. of Pittsburgh, Penn. and Claire of Herman. These, with the grief-stricken husband, survive as does also one sister, Mrs. Elton Stone of Easton, Pennsylvania.

Deceased was highly respected by those who knew her. She participated in church work and was a Past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star. She was active in all civic movements and her place in the social activities of Herman will be difficult to fill.

As yet no definite date has been set for the funeral. The Truhlsen Mortuary will have charge of the services which will possibly be on Saturday.

By request friends are asked not to send flowers, but to send the equivalent in money to be presented in her memory to the polio fund. At her death she was seventy four years of age.
