FRITZ MATHIESEN VICTIM OF STROKE

Fritz Mathiesen of West Colfax street died suddenly at his home on last Tuesday shortly after noon. He had spent the morning reading and after the noon lunch he had burned some waste paper. On entering the house he had remarked that he did not feel well and had laid down. He died immediately.

He was born in Denmark where he had resided until he was nineteen years of age when he came to America. He made one trip back to the old home since then to see his aged mother.

He was first married to Miss Maren Tranberg and to this marriage four children were born, Mrs. W. R. Meador, Mrs. Ida Petersen, both of Omaha and Chris of Alberta, Canada and Albert of Omaha.

The wife died in 1904, and in 1905 he was remarried to Miss Martha Hoier, and to this marriage five children were born, Mrs. John McQuinn, Mrs. Jack Ortmeier, both of Omaha and Edmund of Eugene, Oregon and Frederick and Leonard of Blair.

In all his dealings, the deceased has been known for his upright character. He was at one time one of the prime movers in the establishing of the Farmers Elevator (now the Holmquist). He was a good businessman, capable and fair, a good neighbor and a good citizen.

Funeral services will be held from the First Lutheran church in Blair at 2 p.m. on Friday with Rev. H. C. Jorgensen officiating, and interment will be made in the Blair cemetery under the supervision of the Campbell Mortuary.
