PIONEER BLAIR WOMAN DIES

Mary Elizabeth Watkins Shipley was born Nov. 7, 1876 at Blair, Neb., daughter of Vesta E. and William A. Watkins and passed away in Chicago, Ill. Nov. 29, 199 at the age of 73 years and 22 days.

She was united in marriage to Arthur L. Shipley on March 23, 1898 eat Ft. Calhoun, Neb.

Born to this union were five daughters and three sons. Surviving are four daughters, Miss Gertrude Shipley, Mrs. Vesta Tock, Mrs. Winifred Sallander, Mrs. Pearl Price; one son, Curtis Arthur, all of Chicago, five grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Mrs. Shipley had lived a good Christian life, was a devoted wife and mother, always sacrificing herself for others. Even during her last illness she was always concerned about the welfare of her family.

She lived in and around Omaha until 1922 when the family moved to Chicago.

Her husband and two sons, Logan and Ralph and one daughter, Gracie, preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 2, at the Harry E. Swanson Mortuary, Omaha. Interment in Forest Lawn cemetery.
