MRS. M. WILLIAMS DIES IN CALIFORNIA

Mrs. Minnie Camelia Selden Williams, formerly of Blair, but later of Los Angeles, California, passed away last Thursday, October 27th after a long ten months of acute suffering.

She was born April 28th, 1870, in Omaha and shortly after her birth her parents moved to a farm west of Herman where they lived a short time and then moved to Blair.

She graduated from the Blair High School in 1886 and immediately the family moved to South Dakota where the father held a position in an Indian school. Here the deceased had the interesting experience of teaching an Indian school for two years.

The family moved back to Blair in 1888 and the father, Perry Selden, purchased The Pilot of L. F. Hilton. He published The Pilot until his death. Miss Minnie Selden was married in 1893 to L. A. Williams, who was at that time principal of the High School and after Mr. Selden’s death, Williams took over The Pilot.

Two children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Williams, Bert of Rockford, Ill. and Letha at home. Mr. Williams died in La Hobra, California in 1934 and Mrs. Williams took up her abode in Los Angeles.

Before her marriage, Mrs. Williams taught for a number of years in the Blair school and was teaching there when married.

When in Blair Mrs. Williams was very prominent in club work and was a member of the O.E.S., the Methodist Church, the Relief Corps, the D.A.R., the Rebekahs, the Monday Afternoon Club. In all of these she held office and was held in high esteem for her ability and willingness to do her part.

Funeral services were held last Saturday at 4 p.m. in Los Angeles and the body was placed in a mausoleum in Inglewood Park near Los Angeles.

She leaves, besides the children already mentioned, three cousins, F.E. and Miss Katie Newell and Mrs. Lutie McKay, all of Blair.
