FORMER CALHOUN MAN DIED AUG. 9

Walter Smith, formerly of Ft. Calhoun, but a resident of Eatonville, Washington for the past three years, passed away at his home there Tuesday, August 9th. He was a brother of Miss Eva Smith of Blair, long time clerk at the Ben Franklin store.

The deceased was 71 years of age, having been born in Blair to the late Mr. and Mrs. John Smith. For 27 years he farmed near Ft. Calhoun.

He was married to Miss Martha Jones of this vicinity, and to this union three children were born: Mrs. Katherine Small and John Smith, both of Eatonville and Walter Smith, Jr., who is in the Navy.

Services and burial took place at Eatonville.
