JOHN BOEHNKE RITES WEDNESDAY

John Boehnke, well known in Blair, died Sunday evening of a sudden heart attack. John had been helping Mr. Reed O’Hanlon open a clogged sewer drain when suddenly the attack caught him and he died immediately.

John was born in Germany in Kehdingbruch on April 15, 1898. He served in the German Army in World War I. He was wounded and taken to an American hospital where he was cared for. Here he really got acquainted with the American way of life, and in 1922 he came to this country to make this his home. On coming here he landed in Iowa where he worked as a farm hand.

In 1928 he went to New York where he married Emma Schwanemann, and they came to Nebraska to made their home. He farmed for a few years in Dodge county, and later moved to Blair where he spent the remainder of his life.

Find a Grave Memorial #113534088 John was a tireless worker and his services were in demand. He was a general favorite, always of a pleasant disposition and men liked him. He was strictly honest and gave value received in all his transactions.

He leaves to mourn him his wife and five children: Waldeman, Elaine, John, William and Robert, besides many relatives in the old country.

Funeral rites were held Wednesday afternoon from the Campbell Mortuary with Rev. H. C. Jorgensen officiating, and burial was made in the Blair Cemetery.
