PETER KROEGER RITES MARCH 31ST

Peter Kroeger passed away at his home in Bennington on March 28, 1949 at the age of 79 years, 2 months, 11 days after a year’s illness. He was born in Rendsburg, Schleswig Holstein, Germany on January 17, 1870. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a lifetime member of the Lutheran church.

He was married in Germany to Margaretha Sass on November 15, 1892. Two years later they came to America, to Omaha, and in later year they settled on a farm in Washington County. The last three years they lived in Bennington, Nebr. Last Nov. 15 they observed their 57th wedding anniversary.

Surviving are his wife, Margaretha, six sons, John, William and Dave of Bennington; Herman of Omaha; Henry of Kennard; and Ernest of Irvington. Two daughters, Mrs. Anna Schaecker of Omaha and Mrs. Emma Champion of Bennington. Three children preceded their father in death, two sons in infancy and a daughter, Mrs. Maggie Mordhorst. Three brothers, Henry of Elkhorn and George and jacob of Germany. 18 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Herman and John Mordhorst, Ray Fackler, Donald, William and Harry Koreger. Honorary pallbearers were Emil Gottsch, Carl Puls, George Stolley and Hans Sass.

Funeral services were held Thursday, March 31, at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Bennington, and burial was at the German cemetery.
