RITES HELD FOR AXEL

Axel Christian Axelsen was born in Aarslev, Fyn, Denmark on Feb. 27, 1878, and passed away on Mar. 22 at the Swartzell Rest Home in Cedar Falls, Iowa following a number of strokes and heart attacks from which he had been bedfast for 15 months.

He came to America in 1898 and worked for a time as a carpenter and contractor in Omaha, Nebr. On Mar. 13, 1908 Mr. Axelsen was united in marriage to Ane Kirstine Rasmussen at Omaha, after which they moved to a farm in Lincoln county, Nebraska. In 1912 they moved to Blair where Mr. Axelsen farmed; later was manager of the Farmers’ Implement Co., and then in 1924 moved to the farm northwest of Blair where they lived until 1945, after which they retired and in 1946 moved to Cedar Falls.

Mr. Axelsen is survived by his widow, by one daughter, Eva, now Mrs. Marvin Nygaard of Cedar Falls, and by two grandchildren, John Belsen Nygaard and Mary Elizabeth Nygaard, by 3 nephews and one niece in America and other relatives in Denmark. Two sisters preceded him in death.

Mrs. Axelsen was a member of the First Lutheran Church at Blair.
