MRS. ODILE CARY DIES SUDDENLY

Retired to Rest; Found Dead Following Morning

Mrs. Odile Cary, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Scott Allen, was found dead in her bed on Tuesday morning. The attributing cause is said to be an acute heart attack.

She had given two music lessons the evening before and had practiced on the piano, and after retiring had read for a time in bed. Her brother, Walter, had looked in on her shortly after midnight and found her reading comfortably. According to the opinion of the family physician she died sometime before six in the morning.

Odile Allen was born on the farm south of Blair Oct. 12, 1904. She received her early education in the district school and later graduated from the Blair High School.

She taught school for several years before her marriage. One son, Irvin, was born to this union and he survives his mother as do five brothers, Walter Allen of Detroit, Michigan; Wm. and John of Omaha; Rollo and Mac of Blair; and one sister, Mrs. Gertrude Merritt of Elk City.

Deceased was a woman of outstanding ability and an untiring worker. She was preparing herself for a concert pianist and spent hours daily at the piano.

She was present last Sunday at a family reunion at the home of a brother, and enjoyed the family relationship as she did all social gatherings. Last year she was vice president of the Pioneer and Old Settler Picnic Association and her efforts were a great factor in making the affair a success.

Her interests were diversified. She was much interested in cub Scout work and her work in the D.A.R. of which she was a member. She was the president of the Mary Gale Society of the National Society of the Children of the American Revolution in Nebraska which is an auxiliary of the D.A.R. The Chapter in Blair which she headed had eighteen members. This and other organizations claimed much of her time. She was a student of the times and was well versed in political economy.

She comes of a pioneer family and has a wide acquaintance. She made her home with her aunt, Mrs. May Lazure and while in Blair added many more acquaintances to her large list. All these will miss her and her place will be hard to fill.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from the Bendorf Funeral Home, and interment will be made in the Blair cemetery.
