Funeral services were held Monday for Gottlieb H. Echtenkamp, 74, who passed away at his home in Fremont last Thursday, Rev. Victor Hoffman officiated at the services held in the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran church in Fremont of which he was a member.

Born at Arlington November 23, 1874, he farmed in this vicinity until his retirement in 1945. On February 21, 1900 he married Emma Hilgenkamp in Arlington. Besides his widow there are two daughters, Mrs. Albert Walker of Nickerson and Mrs. Albert Montgomery of Arlington, one son, Harry Echtenkamp of Arlington; five brothers, Herman of Wayne, Henry of Wakefield, Louis and August of Fremont and Edward J. of Buffalo, N.Y.; two sisters, Mrs. L. Hilgenkamp of Arlington and Mrs. Ida Stork of Blair and seven grandchildren.

Burial was in the St. Paul’s cemetery north of Arlington

RITES HELD FOR G. ECHTENKAMP

Gottlieb H. Echtenkamp was born November 23, 1874 at Arlington, Nebr. and died January 13, 1949 at his home in Fremont, reaching an age of 74 years, 1 month and 27 days. In infancy he was baptized in the name of the Triune God in St. Paul Lutheran church by the Rev. Julius Frese. After a thorough instruction in the word of God he was confirmed in St. Paul’s Lutheran church by the Rev. John Hilgendorf. On February 21, 1900 he was married to Emma Hilgenkamp widow, two daughters, Mrs. Albert Laaker, Nickerson; Mrs. Albert Montgomery, Arlington, Nebraska; one son, Harry Echtenkamp, Arlington; one daughter Florence, preceded him in death; one daughter-in-law and two sons-in-law; two sisters, Louis Hilgenkamp of Arlington; Ida Stork, Blair; five brothers, Herman, Wayne; Henry, Wakefield; Louis and August of Fremont and Edward of Buffalo, New York and seven grandchildren.

He was a lifelong member of the Lutheran church of Arlington and since 1945 when he moved to Fremont, he joined Trinity Lutheran church.

Preceding the funeral a prayer service was held at his home.

Pallbearers were Elmer Stork, Albert Echtenkamp, Raymond Echtenkamp, Obert Hagerbaumer, Harvey Hilgenkamp and Raymond Scheer.
