DONALD STRENGER VICTIM OF HEART ATTACK

A Christmas family gathering resulted in a saddened affair at the Mrs. Freda Hoegemeyer home by the death of Donald J. Strenger, 31, of Cedar Bluffs, son-in-law of the hostess, who passed away suddenly and unexpectedly from a heart attack.

As the noon holiday meal was being finished, Mr. Strenger complained of being ill and retired to the bedroom to lie down. Medical aid was at his side, but his decline was so fast that he was in his last few breaths upon the arrival of the doctor. The volunteer firemen first aid squad gave artificial respiration with the respirator, but all efforts to revive him proved of no avail.

Donald John Strenger was born near Telbasta, Washington county, on January 10, 1917. He was married to Erna Hoegemeyer on October 4, 1938. He farmed in Washington county until a year ago when he moved to Cedar Bluffs where he has operated a cafe.

Those left to mourn his loss are the wife and four children, Wayne 9, Dan 8, Richard 5, Betty 3; parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Strenger, and brother, Earl of Fremont, sister, Mrs. Clarence Scheer of Nickerson; and a grandfather, W. H. Hartung of Hooper.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon at St. Matthews Lutheran church in Cedar Bluffs, Rev. August Walter officiating. Burial was made in Memorial Park cemetery in Fremont.
