20 June, 1906 - The Blair Courier - James P. Stricklett

Jas. P. Stricklett was born June 24, 1832, near Concord in Lewis Co., Ky. After a lingering illness of over 10 weeks, in which he showed Christian fortitude and character in a remarkable degree, he went to his reward at his home Tuesday morning, June 12. He was married to Catherine Carter July 6, 1854. To this union were born 12 children, 5 girls, 7 boys of whom 3 girls and 3 boys have gone on before. Two daughters, 4 sons, and the wife remain to mourn his loss. Deceased moved to Blair on April, 1867. He was buried with his Lord in Christian baptism when about 18 years old. He became discouraged and drifted back into the world after coming to this country, but about 18 years ago he returned to the master’s vineyard and lived as near to the great throbbing, forgiving heart of his Savior as it was possible for anyone under similar circumstances.
