William J. Lippincott Dead

Word was received here Monday by Jim and Eph Lippincott of their brother, Will, had passed away that morning at his farm near Red Cloud of heart trouble, from which he had been a sufferer for several years. He had been bedfast for the past months.

Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Lippincott, Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Lippincott and Mrs. Lyle Guyer left here yesterday afternoon for Red Cloud to attend the funeral service, which will be held Thursday.

Mr. Lippincott was born in Washington County, Indiana, Nov. 28th, 1855, so 72 years of age last November. When he was two years old he came to the county with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joshua C. Lippincott, who took up a homestead here where E. C. Lippincott now lives, some three miles northwest of Blair on the Washington County highway.

Will grew to manhood there and was married to Miss Julia Carter in these early eighties. They made their home here for a number of years, moving on to a farm six miles south west of Red Cloud, Neb., where he died.

He was survived by his wife, and seven children, two daughters, Hattie, Mrs. Wm. Noyes, of Ceresco, and Hazel, Mrs. Miner Kent of Red Cloud and five sons, Lyle, of Mankato, Kansas, Wayland and Carter of Long Beach, Calif., Richard of Denver and Fred of Red Cloud.

Besides the two brothers here, J. W. and E. C. Lippincott, he leaves one sister, Mrs. S. R. Fletcher of Bancroft, Neb. There are also nineteen grandchildren.

Dies At Red Cloud

Relatives Receive Word of Death of Wm. J. Lippincott

Relatives in this city on Tuesday received word of the death of William J. Lippincott, who died at his home near Red Cloud, Nebraska, late Monday evening following a short illness of heart trouble. The deceased was born in Washington county, Indiana, in 1855 and came with his parents to Washington county, Nebraska, when he was but two years old. The family moved on a farm on the bench road and the children were educated in the public schools of this city.

In 1882 he was married to Miss Julia H. Carter of this city after which they moved to a farm which Mr. Lippincott purchased north of the city. About five years later the family moved to Red Cloud where the deceased acquired extensive land holdings. He was one of the pioneer residents of Washington county and endured all of the hardships so common to the early settlers. He was well acquainted in this community and was highly respected by all with whom he came in contact.

He leaves to mourn his loss, his bereaved wife; five sons, Lyle of Topeka, Kansas; Wayland and Carter, both of California, Richmond of Red Cloud, and Frank at home; two daughters Mrs. Noyes of Ceresco, and Mrs. Hazel Kent of Red Cloud; two brothers, Jas. W. and E. C. Lippincott, both of this city and a sister, Mrs. S. R. Fletcher, of Bancroft.

Funeral services were held at Red Cloud on Wednesday after which interment was made in the cemetery near that city. His brothers left late Tuesday evening to attend the funeral.

Jas. W. and E.C. Lippincott received word of the death of their brother, Wm. J. Lippincott at his home at Red Cloud and with their wives left at once to attend the funeral held at Red Cloud on Wednesday, April 4. The deceased was a Washington county boy, having come to this city at an early age. He is survived by his wife who was Miss Julia Carter, also of this county and by seven children. They have lived at Red Cloud for a number of years.
