"William T. Plowman, for the past ten years in charge of bridge gangs and other construction work on the Oregon Railroad & Navigation lines, died suddenly in this city yesterday morning. He was injured in the collision between a work train and a freight train near Durkee a few days ago, and came to Portland for medical assistance. Until Monday he appeared to be recovering, and was around the office of the company Monday afternoon. About 2 o’clock yesterday morning he began suffering with heart trouble and sank rapidly until 4 o’clock when he passed away. Mr. Plowman was born in Canada 53 years ago and had followed railroading most of his life. Previous to coming to Oregon, he was for 20 years in charge of bridge and construction work on the Chicago, St. Paul & Omaha Railroad. He was an expert in his line of work, and is very highly spoken of by his associates in the O.R. & N. Co. His only surviving relative in this city is his wife, Mrs. Mabel Plowman, who is quite prominent in club and literary circles." The above taken from the Portland Oregonian of last Wednesday refers to the Plowman so well and favorable known here when he was connected with the St. Paul Railroad.
