#1-30 Nov., 1910 - The Tribune - Mary E. Lawson

Mrs. Mary E. Lawson, formerly of Blair, died very suddenly of apoplexy at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. H. Young, at Springfield, Mo. on Monday, Nov. 21 at the age of 70 years and 7 months. She was born at Rimersberg, Pa. April 21, 1840, and resided in Blair for eight years, leaving here in 1894, and has made her home with her daughters since that time. She leaves the following children to mourn her sudden demise: Miss Jennie Lawson, Clarion, Pa.; Mrs. M. A. Lawrence, New York City; Chalmers Lawson, McKeesport, Pa.; Mrs. Geo. G. Boggs, McLoud, Okla.; Mrs. E. B. Carrigan of this city; Mrs. James Polk, Pocomoke, Md.; Mrs. H. A. Young, Springfield, Mo.; and Mrs. S. H. Fawcett, Thermal, Cal. The funeral services were held at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. B. Carrigan, in this city on Thursday, Nov. 24, at 3 pm. Mrs. Bogs, Mrs. Young and Mrs. Carrigan were the only children present at the funeral.

Mrs. E. B. Carrigan received word of the sudden death of her mother, Mrs. Mary E. Lawson, at the home of her sister, Mrs. A. E. Young at Springfield, Mo. The body was brought here Wednesday, and the funeral held at the Carrigan home at 3 o’clock Thursday afternoon, Rev. Lang officiating. Mrs. Lawson was 70 years and 7 months old, and lived here for about 8 years, leaving in 1894. Besides the two above mentioned, she leaves one son, Chalmers Lawson of Mt. Keeport, Pa. and five daughters, Miss Jennie Lawson of Clarion, Pa.; Mrs A. M. Lawrence of New York City; Mrs. Geo. G. Boggs of McCloud, Okla.; Mrs. James Polk of Pocomoke, Md.; and Mrs. S. H. Fawcett of Thermal, Cal. Mrs. Boggs and Mrs. Young were the only children present from abroad to attend the funeral.

MRS. CARRIGAN’S MOTHER DIES

Mrs. E. B. Carrigan received word Tuesday night of the death of her mother at Springfield, Mo., and was taken to Omaha in an automobile for the purpose of taking a train for her mother’s late home. A few hours after leaving Blair, another message came with the information that the remains would be brought to Blair for burial. Mrs. Carrigan was headed off at Topeka, Kansas, returning to Blair early the next morning.

The remains of Mrs. Lawson were shipped to Blair and the funeral was held from the Carrigan home last Thursday afternoon, Rev. Lang officiating. Mrs. Lawson was formerly a resident of this city and will be remembered by many of our older residents. She was a sister of Mrs. John Boggs and for the past several years has made her home with a daughter at Springfield, Mo.

Mrs. Lawson was stricken with apoplexy and died very suddenly. Deceased was born at Rimersberg, Pa. April 21, 1840, and resided in this city for eight years prior to 1894, since which time she had made her home with her daughters. The following children are left to mourn her death: Miss Jennie Lawson, Clarion, Pa.; Mrs. M. A. Lawrence, New York City; Clarence Lawson, McKeesport, Pa.; Mrs. George G. Boggs, McLoud, Okla.; Mrs. E. B. Carrigan, Blair; Mrs. James Polk, Pocomoke, Md.; Mrs. A. H. Young, Springfield, Mo.; Mrs. S. H. Fawcett, Thermal, Cal.; Mesdames Boggs, Young and Carrigan were the only members of the family who could be present at the funeral.
