#1-7 Sept., 1910 - The Pilot - Emma Von Lanken

Miss Emma VonLanken died at the family home in this city today at 11:30 at the age of 23 years. Mr. VonLaken is at Duluth, Minn. where he went on account of hay fever, and funeral arrangements will be made to take place at the German Lutheran church as soon as he is heard from. Further comment on this sad death will be made next week.

#2-14 Sept., 1910 - The Tribune - Emma Von Lanken

Miss Emma Von Lanken died at the home of her parents in Blair last Wednesday, Sept. 7, of tuberculosis of the glands after an illness of a number of years. She had been failing rapidly for some time, and the past year had been wheeled around in a wheelchair. She was born in Arthur, Ill. on Feb. 17, 1887. The funeral services were conducted from the home at 2:30 and from the German Lutheran church at 3 o’clock. Rev. Eckhardt of Blair and Rev. Erck of Florence conducted the funeral services, which were in both German and English. Interment was made in the Blair cemetery, and a large concourse of friends followed the remains to their last resting place. Miss Von Lanken worked in her father’s store here for some time, and was well liked by all who knew her. The Tribune, along with her numerous friends, extend their deepest sympathies to the bereaved family in this their hour of sorrow.

#3-14 Sept., 1910 - The Pilot - Emma Von Lanken

Miss Emma VonLanken died at 11:30 last Wednesday morning, and the funeral was held at the German Lutheran church at 3 o’clock Saturday afternoon. Rev. Erck of Florence gave a short talk in English and her pastor, Rev. Eckhardt, spoke in German. Interment was made in the Blair cemetery. Miss Emma had been ailing for a good many years with tuberculosis of the glands. Her people have known for some time she couldn’t get well, but she was courageous and hopeful to the very last day. She was born at Arthur, Ill. Feb. 19th, 1887, and came here with her parents in 1902. She was a member of the German church and choir and had many friends who will miss her keenly. Six of her girlfriends acted as pallbearers, Lucy Shields of Omaha, Gale and Dale Stapleton of Craig, Agnes McMillan, Florence Pound and Mrs. Grace Day. Mr. VonLanken is in Duluth on account of his hay fever and couldn’t come to the funeral. Mr. and Mrs. Karl Kolterman were here from Scribner, Mr. and Mrs. George Tamms of Avoca, Ia. and Mrs. Thos. Truhlson of Omaha.

#4-15 Sept., 1910 - Blair Democrat - Emma Von Lanken

DIES OF TUBERCULOSIS

Miss Emma Von Lanken, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Von Lanken of this city, died at the home of her parents last Wednesday noon from tuberculosis of the glands, after suffering for the past several years.

The funeral was held Saturday afternoon from the German Lutheran church, Rev. Eckhardt preaching the sermon in the German language and Rev. Erck of Florence preaching in English. The pallbearers were girl friends of the deceased.

Miss Von Lanken was born at Arthur, Illinois February 19, 1883, and came to Blair with her parents about eight years ago. Besides her parents, she leaves six sisters and an adopted brother. Mr. Von Lanken was unable to attend the funeral on account of being in Minnesota where he went to escape his annual attack of hay fever.
