#1-5 Jan., 1910 - The Tribune - Hanna Fredericka (Hilgenkamp) Kruger (Note: in this obituary last name is spelled “Krueger”)

Mrs. Hanna Krueger, a highly respected resident of this community and a widow of the late Wm. Krueger, died suddenly at her home about three miles southeast of town Friday morning at the age of about 69 years. She had been suffering with asthma for some time, but her condition was not considered of a serious nature and her sudden demise comes as a great shock to her five children and hosts of relatives and friends. Deceased was a woman of exceptional physical and well as mental ability, a staunch Christian and always ready to lend a helping hand wherever needed, and she will long be remembered by those who knew her best.

MRS. HANNAH KRUGER DEAD

Succumbing to an attack of asthma, Mrs. Hannah Fredericka Kruger, a pioneer resident of Washington county passed away at her home on the Kruger farm about four miles west of Arlington Friday forenoon at 8 o’clock.

Mrs. Kruger was one of the best known residents of Washington county. The family settled in that locality in the seventies, soon after the country was first opened up.

The deceased was born in Germany March 2, 1841. She was a member of the Hilgenkamp family, a sister of William, Henry and John Hilgenkamp. Her husband, William Kruger, passed away about a year ago, and a daughter, Mrs. Mathilda Laaker, succumbed recently.

Mrs. Kruger is survived by three daughters and two sons. The funeral was held on Tuesday.

Death of Mrs. Hannah Kruger

Last Friday, news was received in Arlington to the effect that Mrs. Hannah Kruger had died very suddenly at the home of her son, E. O. Kruger, six miles northwest of town, that morning, the end coming without a warning. The lady had been in her usual health the day before, and her sudden demise was a shock to her friends. She was the widow of Wm Kruger, who died Aug 8, 1908, and the mother of Mrs. Matilda Laiker, whose burial took place just a few weeks ago. Kruger was 69 years old, and highly esteemed in the community in which she has lived so many years, and her death will be mourned by a large circle of friends and relatives. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, with interment in the German Lutheran cemetery north of town. They were largely attended in spite of the severity of the weather prevailing.
