A telegram reached Mrs. Addie White of this city last week telling of the death of her father, Lester Ely, who died at the Soldiers’ Home on the 17th of this month, and who was buried in the Home cemetery, it being his wish to be laid to rest with the old soldiers. Mr. Ely had been bedfast ever being taken to the home by his son Robert some time ago. Deceased came to Washington county in 1868 and resided here until 1886 when he moved to Haigler, Neb. He would have been ninety two years old had he lived until next February. He was a member of the church of God, and leaves two daughters and one son, Mrs. Addie White of this city and Mrs. Anna Cottrell of Victor, Col., and Robert Ely.
